Letters from the editor: New Year

And so it begins… the hate. Each new year, we find a fresh fire to start impactful projects and increase our positive daily habits. This “new” atmosphere allows us to feel unstoppable and ready to take over the world. It is the start of a new year, new beginnings and new opportunities and of course there will still be those who simply do not believe.

They will not believe in your goals, your aspirations or your many Facebook statuses where you clearly state that you are a new person. Over the past few days, I have noticed the Negative Nancy and Debbie Downer stating how they feel about other people taking charge of their personal lives. However, I am here to let you know to keep striving.

I do not care if you have the same resolution every year until 2042, you keep going until it is accomplished. We have to understand the greatest of things take the greatest of times. Do not become discouraged if April comes and you have accomplished only one of your twenty-five goals. It is okay. Everyday is a new day to the make the most of each opportunity presented to you. Do not let hate and fear ease into your vision, whether it is coming from your own mind or others. You should not be afraid of the things you simply can not prepare for. We all know change is inevitable, however it is how you respond to it.

For years, I have heard people state “this is my year” or “this will be the greatest year ever” and quite honestly, I have never felt that way about any year. Do not get it misconstrued, I have had good years and bad moments in the good ones, however I have never felt that sensation of “this is my year”..until now. Which is why I encourage you to not let what others say or do interfere with the things you know. I know I am not alone with this self revelation so I am begging you to take control of 2017 with me. Always remember, it is not how you start but how you finish.

As for me, I will takeover in 2022… in Jesus name.
